The option inherit of a variable
'inherit' => … says how the value of a variable would pass down the tree: down, given on a folder it holds for everything under it; here, it holds on that node only; choice (the default), the administrator says it each time. Here, the time zone a whole site expects.
How to read it
- Today,
inheritchanges nothing: a variable of a collector is set on its probe only, never on a folder or a host. The option is accepted and kept; it says what the author means, for the day such a variable can be set higher. 'default' => 'UTC': the value of a new probe until the administrator changes it.- The collector compares the time zone read with the one expected, and returns
yesorno;watch.stateraises a warning onno.
To adapt it
timedatectlneeds systemd; elsewhere, cat /etc/timezone(Debian, Alpine) or the target of the link/etc/localtime.- The other options of a variable: see
